Not sure which format suits your group?
Urban Quest is a fully hosted, tech-driven corporate team building experience in Melbourne — one of the few corporate team building activities in the city that combines competitive structure, real technology, and measurable outcomes in a single hosted event.
Most activities follow a competitive race format where teams of 4–5 navigate real environments, solve challenges together, and discover things about each other that a meeting room never reveals. Our conference format brings the same competitive energy and structured facilitation directly into your event agenda.
Trusted by ExxonMobil, Jetstar, Canva, and 500+ Melbourne companies, our experiences run across the CBD, Docklands, parks, conference venues, and your own location — fully hosted from briefing to wrap-up, so you arrive as a participant, not an organiser.
Suitable for groups of all sizes: 5-500+
2 hours duration
Suitable for all ages and fitness levels
Guided on smartphones
Fit to your schedule
Designed to maximise teamwork
Urban Quest’s custom game platform does something no paper-based or facilitator-led experience can: it tracks every team’s performance throughout the event — contribution levels, decision-making patterns, challenge completion — and feeds that data directly into the post-event debrief.
For team leaders, this means the event produces specific, named insights about how your team operates under pressure, not just a fun afternoon and a vague sense that people got along better.
For participants, it means the competition is real. Every challenge completed, every decision made, every hint used is captured — with results and final standings revealed at the wrap-up by your Urban Quest host. People play differently when they know it counts.
Add the Team Activator or Strategic Debrief to translate that data into outcomes your team can act on.
For Melbourne businesses searching for team building ideas that produce lasting results rather than a pleasant afternoon, Urban Quest has delivered over 8,500 events across the city and beyond
Named clients include ExxonMobil, Jetstar, BDO, Medibank, Melbourne Airport, DoorDash, Performio, Pryda ANZ, AvePoint, Jotun Paints, eSuperfund, Sportsbet, EnerSys, Department of Education, GPC Asia Pacific, and the Victorian Legal Services Board — across CBD, Docklands, indoor, on-site, and virtual formats.
Clients consistently report improved collaboration, engagement, and communication
following their events.
Fantastic experience – level of difficulty was perfect – not too easy but difficult enough to create teamwork – input from everyone to solve the clues and also bringing some humour too. I highly recommend this for a work team activity. We are looking forward to doing another Quest soon.
Our team loved our event with Urban Quest! It was such a unique experience and everyone ended the day with smiles on their faces and memories which will stay with us forever. Joanna and Serge at Urban Quest made the organisation so easy and everything went off without a hitch on the day. Thanks so much, Urban Quest, we’ll be back!
We have completed multiple events with Urban Quest (both physical and digital) and they are a delight every time. Cannot recommend Serge and the Urban Quest team highly enough. Experiences were a good length, really well designed and enjoyable. If you’ve read this far just book one!

New teams, mixed departments, or groups where people don’t know each other well have a problem that no amount of goodwill fixes quickly: the first 30-40 minutes of any team event are lost to awkwardness while people figure out who they’re working with.
The Team Activator solves this before the Quest begins. In 15 minutes, your group goes through a structured warm-up that breaks down the social distance between strangers and gets every person genuinely ready to collaborate. By the time the Quest starts, the ice is already gone.
Urban Quest recommends the Team Activator for any group where 30% or more of participants don’t know each other well — new starters, merged departments, interstate visitors joining a local team.
The Urban Quest experience produces something most team activities don’t: real data about how your team operates under pressure. The Strategic Debrief is how you use it.
Led by your Urban Quest host immediately after the event, the debrief is a structured 30 to 45 minute conversation that connects what happened during the Quest to how your team works back at the office. Where did communication break down? Who led when it mattered? What would your team do differently next time — in the Quest and at work?
Teams that include the Strategic Debrief consistently report that it’s what makes the experience last beyond the day itself. AMP’s team identified five specific behavioural takeaways from a single session. Jetstar’s IT team reflected on how their Quest performance mirrored patterns they recognised from their actual work.
We will design a bespoke team building event to suit your specific requirements or location; in the office, offsite or conference venue.

Boost morale with virtual team building for corporate teams
How does Urban Quest corporate team building work?
Urban Quest operates on a simple yet effective concept. First, the group is divided into teams of 4-5 individuals to ensure optimal collaboration and teamwork. Participants then access our game platform via their smartphones, where they receive instructions, submit answers, and uncover Augmented Reality clues.
Throughout the experience, teams navigate the city, exploring specific landmarks and hidden lanes where clues are cleverly integrated. This immersive approach adds an extra layer of excitement and engagement to the adventure.
As teams progress, they are tasked with solving puzzles and challenges that require efficient communication and utilisation of each member’s unique strengths. Creativity, collaboration, and quick thinking are the keys to success.

What makes Urban Quest different from other team building companies?
Urban Quest stands out from other team building options thanks to our cutting-edge experience design, innovative use of technology, and advanced performance-tracking capabilities.
Unlike traditional corporate team building activities that may be either too physically demanding or lacklustre, we’ve carefully crafted our experience to ensure it’s dynamic and engaging for all participants. Our focus is on fostering collaboration, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
Our Team Activator or Strategic Debrief packages provide valuable takeaways and tangible results that transform your team.
At Urban Quest, we’re not just providing an activity – we’re delivering an unforgettable experience that brings teams closer together and enhances their skills in a fun and interactive way.
How much does Urban Quest corporate team building cost in Melbourne?
Pricing starts from a $750 minimum event charge and scales by group size. The per-person price range is from $52 to $72 for groups under 100 participants. Larger teams over 100 people benefit from an individual lower per-person pricing.
What is the rundown of an Urban Quest corporate team building event?
The day kicks off with arrival at your designated starting location, about 15 minutes before your scheduled start time. Here, you’ll gather with your pre-assigned teams and meet your event host, who will guide you through the game instructions and ensure everyone is set up and ready to roll on the game platform.
Once briefed, it’s time to hit the streets! Your team will embark on an exhilarating journey to uncover clues, solve riddles, and conquer challenges together. All Urban Quest corporate team building activities are a test of teamwork, strategy, and problem-solving skills as you race against the clock and rival teams.
After completing your Urban Quest, we’ll regroup for a celebratory wrap-up. Expect plenty of high-fives, as we announce scores, highlight achievements, and crown the victorious team. It’s the perfect way to conclude a day filled with fun, camaraderie, and memorable experiences.
What is your contingency plan being an outdoor event?
If the weather conditions are particularly bad or you specifically prefer an indoor option, we offer a CBD experience that’s entirely indoors – “Black Friday Quest”!
This can be selected at booking or decided on the morning of your event at no extra cost. Your Urban Quest event will never be cancelled due to weather.
How physically challenging Urban Quest corporate team building activities are?
Each Urban Quest is crafted to be inclusive and enjoyable for all participants, regardless of age or fitness level. Teams have the flexibility to set their own pace, ensuring that everyone can fully participate and enjoy the experience.
As for distance, Urban Quest routes typically cover a manageable distance within the designated area, ensuring that participants can comfortably navigate the course while engaging in team building activities.
Is it suitable for people in wheelchairs?
Urban Quest’s CBD corporate team building activities are designed to be as accessible as possible, making use of existing infrastructure to ensure wheelchair users can participate comfortably.
While some challenges may require mobility, the majority of the experience is accessible to people in wheelchairs, allowing them to fully engage and enjoy the activities alongside their teammates.
How many people can participate in an Urban Quest?
Urban Quest is equipped to accommodate groups 5 to 500+ participants seamlessly, from small teams to large conferences and company-wide events.
Our technology-driven approach means that we can efficiently manage larger groups without the need for additional staff.
Depending on the group size, we may make minor adjustments to the game design to ensure smooth logistics and an enjoyable experience for all participants.
What do participants need for the Urban Quest event?
As a participant, all you need is a fully charged smartphone and to arrive on time for the event!
As the group organiser, you’ll be responsible for assigning participants to teams and ensuring they receive any essential information we provide at the time of booking.
Where do Urban Quest corporate team building events start and finish?
Every Urban Quest team building experience has established start/finish points.
Corporate groups usually meet at one of our partnering venues in CBD and Docklands (see each product page for details) unless there are specific requirements or the venue of your choice.
Custom start and finish locations can be arranged based on your specific needs.
How long Urban Quest corporate team building activities go for?
Urban Quest events typically last between 2 to 2.5 hours (120-150 minutes), including pre-event brief and post-event awards.
The Dull Breaker conference energiser is available in 1-hour, 1.5-hour, and 2-hour formats.
The corporate experience duration is thoroughly thought out and strikes the perfect balance, ensuring participants achieve their objectives without feeling overwhelmed.
Are there any options for food or drinks?
Yes, we partner with some of Melbourne’s finest venues, offering options for meals and drinks.
If your group desires food and beverages, you can easily arrange this with our partner venues typically located at the start/finish point of your event.
Is there somewhere we can leave our belongings during the event?
Yes. A cloakroom is available at the Lion Hotel, Melbourne Central, which is also the starting and finishing point for Ocean’s 11, 12 and Black Friday.
Please note that the cloakroom is on the smaller side, so we recommend that participants travel light where possible. That said, small to medium size groups will still have a safe place to store bags, jackets, and personal items during your event.
Are Urban Quest team building experiences suitable for introverts?
Yes. All activities are built to engage every personality type, including quiet or introverted team members, while still challenging high-energy participants. The format is specifically designed so that different skill sets shine at different moments — no single personality type dominates.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend booking at least 2–3 weeks in advance to secure your preferred date, time, and experience format. For larger groups (150+), conferences, or events during peak periods like end of financial year and Christmas, 4–6 weeks notice is advisable. That said, we can often accommodate shorter lead times — contact us and we’ll do our best to make it work.
Can Urban Quest corporate events be customised?
Yes. Custom on-site experiences are available and quoted separately. Our CBD- and Docklands-based experiences can also be tailored to start and/or finish at your office or the venue of your choice (subject to suitability)
Do you run virtual team building activities?
Yes. We offer Mission Impossible — our fully online team building experience for remote and hybrid teams, delivered with the same competitive team format as our in-person events.
